On the surface level, we provide full residential electrical services for Apex, Raleigh, Durham and the surrounding areas. But on a deeper level, the team at AstroWatt aims to build lifelong relationships with the people in our community. We treat every job we do as an audition for the next one - a chance to demonstrate our skills, work ethic, and value.
We think electricity is amazing, and probably the coolest form of energy in existence. It can be dangerous, but it can also be utilized to maximize the human experience. The world we live in offers us more electrical possibilities than ever before. You can power your car with electricity, control how bright or dim a light is, and charge your phone by plugging it right into the wall. All these developments were once either prohibitively expensive or altogether impossible.
We want to help our customers make electricity work for them. This means using electricity to make your home operate the way you want it to; giving you peace of mind regarding power surges, electrical fires, and other issues; and letting you know up-front exactly what each job entails and how much it will cost.
Our History
Owner and operator Tom Jameson grew up in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. He called Pennsylvania home for 24 years before moving to North Carolina. Tom discovered the electric trade when he joined a large electrical company for some summer work. He was on summer break from college and thought it could be interesting to work with electricians and earn some extra money until the new semester started. Tom never returned to college. He found his true passion that summer and went all in on pursuing a career as an electrician.
Tom started in the warehouse delivering parts, organizing material, unloading deliveries, and working in the prefab shop. In a few months, Tom found himself in the field working as an assistant. The company was affiliated with an apprenticeship program allowing Tom to go to three-hour night classes twice a week, for three years. He worked as an apprentice for three years before moving to North Carolina and taking a job as an electrician with a large company.
In 2012 Tom passed the North Carolina Electrical Exam and became a licensed electrician for the state of North Carolina. Since becoming a resident in 2008 Tom has held nearly every position in the electric industry from field tech, service tech, foreman, estimator, sales, GM, and VP. During those years Tom built a strong reputation across a diverse customer base for his skillset and dependability.
AstroWatt Electric is a local family business that was co-founded with Tom’s wife, Nicole. Along with their daughter Sophia, and son Liam, the Jameson family have made the Triangle area home for over a decade. They are committed to making AstroWatt a household name for quality work and customer service in the Triangle area for decades to come.
